IDEC SANTE, the expert in the design and construction of turnkey projects for those involved in the health, life sciences and cosmetics sectors laid the first stone for the extension to a laboratory in the presence of their client, SGS and several elected representatives. This 897 m² extension project and the reorganisation of 1102 m² at the site in Saint-Benoît (Vienne) will continue until January 2021.

An official event

The teams from SGS France, IDEC SANTE and some elected representatives got together on Friday 25th October to lay the first stone for the extension to a lab in Saint-Benoît. This symbolic event brought together all of the stakeholders for a friendly moment with the official laying of the stone and the parchment for this new building. The day continued with a visit to the site, the first sods for which were dug this summer.

A 4-million euro project

This latest operation run as a turnkey project by IDEC SANTE for the SGS France Life Sciences Lab in Saint-Benoît, which specialises in biological analyses for the pharmaceutical sector aims to deal with the increase in the company’s business. These new facilities represent a total investment of 4 million euros for the SGS Group, which has its headquarters in Geneva.

Extension and optimisation

This development and modernisation project involves the construction of an extension. A new building is being erected: almost 900 m² on two floors for offices and the reception and storage of chemical samples. All of the external layout will be reorganised with the creation of a new parking area and an area for storing waste.

6 phases of work to reorganise the labs

The reorganisation of the labs, which are still working, will be divided into six phases to maintain the level of production at the site. Areas will be made available in stages. Work is due to finish in January 2021 after 19 months of work.
